Matthew Corrales
I took School of Motion's Animation Bootcamp and through the BootCamp, we were introduced to our TA's who evaluated our assignments. I just was curious and started looking at their portfolio's and I came across Matthew Corrales's portfolio.
As soon as you click on his site, there's an animating landing page with his name big and bold with his roles underneath that hooks you in. Already you can get a sense of his energetic personality and style. I've also talked with him very briefly through meetings and I feel that the confident energy he exudes matches his work.
Although I love interactive websites where the buttons move or when you scroll something animates I realized after looking through other designers' portfolios that I do enjoy simplicity when it comes to viewing somebody's work. Extra elements are super distracting and take away from their work. The thumbnails do animate which creates intrigue but does not take anything away from his work. Matthew's layout is in a simple grid format with just 9 projects. It's a mix of motion graphics that also showcases his video editing skills and work that is strictly design which advocates for the spectrum of skills that he stated.
Each of his projects has a description that also states his roles along with mockups of his work. He isn't super thorough with his process so the majority of his projects are visual with mockups. This is due to his 10+ ore detail in how he can provide value to his clients' work.
